I am noticing that more and more 'A' crowd people tend to dress radically different than their close friends,
FBs and people normally in their immediate social circle. Like you see the asian skater guy with tatoos and piercings going out with a black chick in standard club gear. More and more guys are wearing ties while their girlfriends dress very goth in long victorian dresses, hair dyed red or black, tons of make up, etc. Or maybe the opposite; professional type chicks going out with the "former punk" guy who put on a little weight since his last European tour ;-)It is only in college bars that you see people wear the same crap all over; American Eagle, Von Dutch, Abercrombie and the dispecable trucker hats. The good news is, chicks at these places are ULTRA easy, specially if you look the least bit different. The social circles are the easiest to penetrate and you can pretty much yawn your way to the top. Also, chicks here have been trained to fuck in order to please the guys. There are some guys who pretty much control all the girls, either because they have a wild temper and the girls don't want them to yell, punch someone or ruin the party, or because they're ultra smooth and they have all the
social proof in the venue and then some.I find the "hip hop" crowd the most annoying. They tend to judge any difference to them as hostility towards them. Looking even slightly different, breaking rapport or not trying to fit-in and seek validation will be interpreted as being stand-offish and asking for trouble. Don't go there peacocked, or take your gear off before you step in. Smiling, laughing and trying to have a good time are all discouraged; either you're angry and by yourself, or you know everyone and you sit at a corner by yourself chewing on a straw. The mainstream pop clubs where guys all look like they took a two hour bubble bath before they got here are also lame. These venues have a little "hip hop" element, and also some mainstream european fashion. Guys here are slimmer and less built than anywhere else, except maybe at hardcore rave venues (those guys really need to see a nutrionist), but they're mostly pretty boys. The social circle is not as easy to penetrate as in college bars, since people are *conscious* of social climbing and actively try to inforece a pecking order. But then, there are many group leaders and people know each other less well, so it is not hard to forge your own social circle. Drinks are more expensive here than most other places, except upscale lounges where $10 are the average, including tip.Lounges are cool and weird at the same time. People seem to be there for a philophical mission to "chill". Nobody wants to spend the least effort on petty things like "talking" or "dancing". It is not unusual for a group of people to sit on couch for hours on end, petting each other in a weird polygamous setting and nodding to the tribal slow-tempo house music. You can talk to people and they're very welcoming, specially if you're not greasy or loud. Just nodding and raising your glass will usually get you positive responses. There are some lost girls who look like they're taking a break from a chaotic life-style, and those are eager to talk. Usually, the friendliest girls are the ones who are there for the first time. But in general, you can go in Ghandi mode; walk slowly to anybody and have a good time. That is all I can think of, there are other things I wanna point out, but this is about the more things that I see frequently.
